There's lots of different music as we all know and there's lots of different people and we all like different things. I thought it would maybe help people if we posted a "Recommendations" thread on here.
Post up some venues that you would recommend to people but tell people what you like to dance to and why you recommend the venues. |

OK here goes
What I like
I like up-tempo music with a rocky beat on the whole. I like to have fun when I dance and I'm not really fussed about being serious.
My recommendations are as follow:-
Classes
The Thing in Winton on a Tuesday. Really friendly class lead by a great guy who's genuinely interested in helping everyone learn. Pretty much knows everyone by their name and welcomes feedback.
Freestyles
Jive n Kickin at Kinson 3rd Saturday of the month. Small very friendly venue with absolutely first class rocking music. The only trouble with it is you'll not want to sit down but even that is sorted as you can go out to the bar and take a rest away from the music!
Venue
Westlands in Yeovil They have 3 DJs on at the regular monthly big Freestyle so there's music for everyone. Absolutely top notch venue though the big tables make it difficult to socialise so go with a group of friends |

my recommendation for my favorite Class night
The THING night on Mondays, Parkstone
Reason
Hosted by a really Friendly guy called Paul who cares about your progress and is very supportive, his Instruction is fun, Professional & clear.
Back up that helped me was the great coaches, DVD's and the way you can collect the beginners moves on your collect cards, to get your certificate.
[b]Music[/b
Lots of really fun variety of up tempo and slower tunes off the top of my head chart, dance, sixtys, swing, latin, disco.
sorry needed to take a breath, i'm sure there are other types of music, but the point is Something for everyone.
I love it all but especially if its up-lifting.
if you have never been pay it a visit. |

Thursdays at WestQuay is starting to get a bit of a buzz about it.
Having said that, the music on 2 July was probably the worst set I have ever heard in &%* years of dancing. But on the 9th, it was as good as I've ever heard at a south coast venue.
In case anyone gets enthusiastic, the floor is being refurbished this week and Thursday night will be at the Louisiana Club in Oceana.
Wherever that is. |

It's in the Leisure World complex: If you drive out of town with Mo'Club to you left then the Leisure World Complex is just after it also on the left - turn left at the traffic lights with the Casino on it (and pub!) - you can't miss it.
As a side note - the last time they "Refurbished" the floor it was awful for weeks while the varnish hardened... Personally, if I was still up in that area it would be enough for me to give the venue a wide berth for at least two months!!!
Mind you - you could always try using Talc; if only to see the reaction you get _________________ www.le-jive.co.uk |

Well now, that's confusing.
I was not aware that any substantive work had been done to the WestQuay floor since it was first installed. |

Yeah, there's another thread on here, somewhere, that mentions it - from memory it must have been about a year ago (ish) _________________ www.le-jive.co.uk |
