Demonstrating : This usually involves being the partner to the Instructor on the stage. It means helping the Instructor demonstrate the three or four beginner moves several times and then the same for three or four intermediate moves. There isn't usually any payment for this service although some organisations will allow free entry to some or all of their freestyles. The extra plus with demonstrating is the half-hour or so one-on-one teaching with the Instructor before the class which enables the demonstrator to learn the routines first hand. This can be very rewarding.
Taxi dancers : These assistants help throughout the beginners class, guiding beginners through the moves and making sure they know where to go. They also take the beginners through the moves again while the intermediate class is underway and also dance with as many of the dancers as they can during the freestyles. Usually there is no payment for these services although, once again, some organisations will allow free entry to some or all of their freestyles. This is a great way for intermediate dancers to give something back and gain some fulfilment by helping other people advance their Jiving.
Please don't be shy in offering your services for either of these positions. Just post your details here and hopefully someone from one of the Jive organisations will be in touch with you. - SJ _________________ "We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance."
