MJ music for the Soul
I sneaked in some Soul & Motown whilst DJing at a MJ event abroad. This started off a list of requests that turned into a major Soul set. Some even started dancing solo…
Shame - Evelyn "Champagne" King
Searching – Change
Dancing in the street - Martha Reeves & The Vandellas
September - Earth Wind and Fire
I'm a roadrunner - Jnr Walker & The Allstars
Pride And Joy - Marvin Gaye
Shotgun - Junior Walker _________________ Life is not a rehearsal

I Remember - Deadmau5 & Kaskade |
Listened to it a number of times last night. Interesting track as it's a bit different to the usual sort of thing you hear but I have to say I came to the conclusion i'ts not something I'd dance to at all though I might use it in a video when I jump off a mountain/cliff
Might interest you that a friend of mine was passing when I was playing it and came over to ask what it was as he thought it sounded quite groovy but he said it's definitely not something you'd dance to. So sorry SF Thumbs down on that one |

Perhaps I've got the wrong mix then?
Anyone else listened to it and think that it's a track that would make them want to get up and dance to it? It's over 5 minutes long with some very long slow bits in it. Musically it's just a long series of loops

Like I say I'd use it in a video about freeflight but not something I'd choose to dance to |

I heard it on the radio so I guess it was the radio mix. It sounded ok, if a bit slow to dance to. _________________ "We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance."

132 bpm too slow SJ ???
Hmm...confused.com
The Youtube version that has been posted is a longer version and a little slower at 130 bpm with long slow sections.
I have just played 3 differnt version of Deadmau5 & Kaskade - I remember. All at 132 BPM.
The radio edit is 3.20min and it has one short part a few seconds long where is changes tempo (a chance to add something interesting). _________________ Life is not a rehearsal

Sugarfoot, any chance you can make one of your versions available so we can see if we are talking about the same track? _________________ "We're fools whether we dance or not, so we might as well dance."

Another little selection of tracks that I have not heard locally
Private Lives - Grace Jones
Mystify – INXS
This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) - Natalie Cole
Joe le taxi - Vanessa Paradis
Teardrops - Womack & Womack
Give me just a little more time - Chairmen of the board
Beautiful Girls - Sean Kingston
Waiting For A Train - Flash And The Pan
Physical - Olivia Newton-John
Wait A Minute - Pussycat Dolls Ft Timbaland
Money (That's What I Want) - Boyz II Men
Mind you, based on previous post of 132bpm being too slow most of these will be too Sorry but I like this sort of tempo for MJing _________________ Life is not a rehearsal

I make "Waiting for a Train", and "Teardrops" to be 134bpm, so no probs there I'd have thought.
No chance of me playing the original of "Beautiful girls" though as I think it's complete rubbish.
BTW, the version of the Deadmau5 track I'm going to download is 3.20 mins long and 128bpm.
I predict it will go down well in my neck of the woods. _________________ DJ - ModernJivePortsmouth

I reckon that must be it Andy. I got mine as a radio edit off Napster. I must be tapping the keyboard to fast Either that or I am trying to hoodwink the speed freaks on here _________________ Life is not a rehearsal

Ditto that! Having sat through the 5min 48s of the mix on YouTube I'm bored stiff! First 2min 30s is exactly the same and the rest doesn't seem to go anywhere! Uninspiring with no musical highlights - I'd expect to hear this more in a nightclub not on a Modern Jive dancefloor... The 30s sample of the radio edit on iTunes sounds exactly the same.
I'd like to say I hope there is a better mix out there somewhere which some people are raving about, however, I find it hard to believe any mix of that monotonous nothing could ever be described by a dancer as 'good' If anyone can prove me wrong please do! |
