A question to the forum, out of interest to diversify from tracks you want to hear, likes etc lets take the other route & list tracks you never want to hear for a very long time,I am not saying they are not good tracks just that they have been overplayed to death,I actually know of a instance where a dj was asked by a customer not to play a track for a while because although they loved the track they were actually getting fed up with hearing it,personally the track i never want to hear again is dance the night away by the mavericks it has got to the stage now not only do i not want to dance to it,i actually have to leave the room so i can`t hear it
I look forward to your input,it also might help the dj`s dilema Smile

DJ, good topic. Personally, that track is one of my favourites to dance to and I never get tired of it. However, different strokes..etc. My used up track choice is New York, New York from the Chicago soundtrack. It makes me want to leave the room! Sad Added :

Oops, I got that wrong, I really meant "All That Jazz". It just doesn't do it for me.

it is still a good track SJ & i used to dance a lot to it,but unfortunately for me it has been spoilt for me by being overdone over the years

Ha Ha - Yes; couldn't agree with this one more! Even if I am guilty of putting it in my play list last week..! Embarassed (But not, I hasten to add, as the actual last song...)

Like the Abba MegaMix?! Urgh, I try to be open minded when it comes to music but if I hear that one I have to leave and return the 5 or 6 minutes later when it's finally over!

And TeeDee I'm very disappointed with you! Hope the new class is going well! (I'll find another thread to discuss it with you to avoid taking this one off track as I'm keen to find which are the most hated tracks around!)

Rich P - I was thinking of putting an update on the "Jive Politics" tread that I started a while back. Seems like an appropriate thread...

In the spirit of this thread though - I can not stand the Jive Bunny ones... You know, the ones that a certain well known venue in Southampton insist on playing every single time I've ever been there (or at least it seems like it!)

ALL THAT JAZZ.....

How many more times do we have to hear it played.....A particularly bad track when so many people seem to struggle to dance to it!!!

Hi Nicky.. I couldnt agree more.. such a droll track.. but hey gives us chance to have a rest..wee & drink etc.. I think this is such a great subject, I can see lots of yo-yo banter on this one.. Watch this space.. and my only contributiion to this one is the last slowy track that is played and Im Gone.. Out the door Rolling Eyes ... but nice for the couples to have a smooch.. Laughing

What a great topic!!

Cant stand All that Jazz & Save the last dance for me. Evil or Very Mad

But most frustrating is the ones that change tempo throughout like the Abba medly & the (I hate to say this as I love this film!!) Dirty dancing mix. Crying or Very sad

I hardly ever play it, but occasionally... if someone requests it... then I'll dig it out!
It's probably a 'Marmite' track! Very Happy
But in your haste to leave the floor as a track you hate comes on, do you ever notice all the dancers who love that tune, scrambling to find a dance partner? Possibly not. Wink

Ha ha, very good point DJ Andy. As discussed elsewhere someone's dream dance track is someone else's pet hate. This again highlights the DJ Dilemma and makes request nights such a minefield for DJs.

By the way, anyone else thought about the "one song to sum up how you feel about jive" challenge?...More suggestions please Smile
