Play That Funky Music by Wild Cherry...Yes, I know, complete indulgence on my part!!!
I love this track and it's perfect for teaching beginners - which gives me an excuse to play it often.

My go! I've heard all these recently and loved 'em:

1. Rise by Safri Duo
2. From Russia with Love; big band cover by Count Basie
3. Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen by Janis Siegel
4. Bust ya windows by Jazmine Sullivan
5. Just haven’t met you yet by Michael Buble
6. Mi Confesion by the Gotan project (the full 4 min version)
7. Little Red Corvette - Mike Zito
8. L.O.V.E. by Nat King Cole
9. Release me by Agnes
10. The way you look tonight, by Frank Sinatra or Michael Buble

And here's two slightly odd ones I've not heard on a jive floor but would like to try:
Per una Cabeza by the Tango project (The tango tune from the movie Scent of a Woman)
On Her Majesty's Secret Service, by the Propellorheads. (Its 9 mins 20 long (!), its really three tracks in one, but its awesome!)

And like Lilblue, I could go on and on and on....

TeeDee , great to hear from you. It's been too long. It would be good to get an update on how things are going with your enterprise in the West Country. Why don't you start a new thread with TeeDee news?

Hi SJ,

Yes, it has been a rather long time..!

Okay - I'll post an update as you suggest; just about to rush out the door, so will try to log on at some time over the weekend.

Cheers - TD

BTW - Enjoyed reading this thread; thanks to everyone who has contributed so far - I see this one running on and on..!

Nicky, which version of "Ring My Bells" do you like as it seems everyone has done a remix of this track. Personally I prefer the DJ Rani remix ( or Insomniac).

This is a great list of top MJ tracks that will suit the majority of MJ dancers.

Sometimes people think about the music too much and forget that music is for everyone in the room, not just them. Many of our favourite tracks, especially when we've been dancing for a while, will thin the floor rather than fill the floor. This is a list of tracks is a wake-up call for us DJs that are trying to be too clever - it's a list that will fill the floor rather than thin the floor and I think it's FAB.
